If you're tired of all the negativity in the news and looking for a bit of hope and inspiration, you'll enjoy this healthy dose of ocean optimism from the experts at The Marine Mammal Center, a global leader in marine mammal health, science and conservation  and the largest marine mammal hospital in the world.

Chef and sustainable seafood expert Jennifer Bushman, and marine biologist Adam Ratner will highlight recent progress on major conservation issues like sustainable seafood, climate change, and ocean trash. Explore promising solutions happening on a global scale to protect people, animals and ecosystems, and see the actions you can take in your own community that will give you hope for the future. 

About The Presenters

Adam Ratner Picture.jpgAdam Ratner joined The Marine Mammal Center in 2009. As the Associate Director of Conservation Education, he challenges visitors to the hospitals and community partners to think differently about ocean conservation using the stories of individual patients that are rescued by the Center. He incorporates topics including climate change, ocean trash, and sustainable seafood into the Center’s messaging, providing the spark of inspiration and empowerment that allow others to see themselves as the heroes of their community and environment. Adam was named one of the 30 under 30 Game Changers for the Planet by the North American Association for Environmental Education, serves as chair of the national Training Committee of the National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Interpretation, and is currently the Executive Chair of the Bay Area Climate Literacy Impact Collaborative.


Sea Change Press PhotosmlJennifer Bushman is one of the Fish and Seafood industry’s most respected communicators, teachers and sustainability strategists. For more than two decades, Jennifer has worked in Sustainable aquaculture with brands such as Kvarøy Arctic, Verlasso Salmon, Love the Wild, Blue Ocean Mariculture, Pacifico Aquaculture and many more. She has worked within the sustainable seafood community for the last decade years. Creating relationships between the aquaculture community, NGO’s such as Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch, retailers and consumers. She taught thousands through her culinary school, Nothing to It!, and has been recognized numerous times by the James Beard Foundation and the International Association of Culinary Professionals.
